How To Start Your #Authopreneur Blog: Buy A Domain Name (Part 1)

Are you curious as to how to blog about your #authopreneur and #indiepublishing adventures?

Wait no more! Help is here!

In this 5 part video series, How To Start Your #Authorpreneur Blog, I teach you the very technical side of how to start your authorpreneur blog via a self-hosted WordPress site.

Trust me, It’s a lot easier than it seems.

In part 1, I teach you how to buy a domain name.

So what exactly is a domain name?

A domain name is your home address on the web. Similar to your physical home address, your domain name tells people where you are located.

For example, my domain name is gcdenwiddie.com. It’s where people can find me online. For my domain name purchase, I used Namecheap. It cost about $10. (You can purchase your domain name here.)

When trying to buy your domain name, you want a name that’s catchy. Don’t be afraid to add your own personality. Remember this is your home, and you want people to remember you and feel welcome.

Try to avoid difficult names, double consonants or too long, complicated names.

I think if you use your real name or pen name for a domain name, it’s a great and effective way to brand, but ultimately your domain name is your choice.

Now let’s get to it. Watch the video as I break it down for you.

And FYI. I am a professional blogger that receives compensation from the companies whose products I use by using affiliate links. I am independently owned and the opinions expressed here are my own. You can choose to purchase through the link or not. The choice is yours 🙂 Thanks for reading and your continual support. Remember, sharing is caring.
